Competencies: The candidate must demonstrate strong financial management, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, drive financial sustainability, and support the organization's overall strategic objectives. Strong knowledge of healthcare financial regulations, tax laws, and NHIA guidelines.

Position Summary: The Senior Manager, Accounts and Finance, will support the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in providing strategic financial leadership to ensure effective planning, management, and control of the organization’s financial resources. The role is responsible for driving the achievement of SUNU Health’s strategic financial objectives through sound financial management, accurate reporting, and strong compliance practices.
The incumbent will oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, financial audits, cost control initiatives, and ensure compliance with Nigerian financial reporting standards (IFRS, FRCN) and regulatory requirements.
He/She will provide leadership in managing financial operations, including medical claims review, capitation, and fee-for-service analysis, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting within PHIS/NHIA frameworks. The role requires proficiency in ERP and other financial management tools, with a focus on data-driven insights and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Additionally, the Senior Manager will mentor and supervise a team of high-performing accountants, foster operational efficiency, and provide actionable financial intelligence to support executive decision-making.
Main Responsibilities:
- Financial Management and Reporting
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports in line with IFRS and FRCN standards.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes and reconciliations.
- Support the CFO in developing and maintaining financial models for decision-making and strategic planning.
- Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cost Control
- Coordinate the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
- Implement robust internal controls to manage expenditure and prevent financial risks.
- HMO Financial Operations and Claims Oversight
- Supervise the processing, validation, and payment of medical claims in line with NHIA/PHIS standards.
- Analyze trends in medical costs, capitation, and fee-for-service payments to ensure financial sustainability.
- Review and optimize financial processes related to healthcare provider payments and enrollees’ cost management.
- Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian accounting standards, tax regulations, and NHIA guidelines.
- Liaise with auditors, regulatory authorities, and internal control teams during statutory and operational audits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations, healthcare finance, and reporting frameworks.
- Leadership and People Development
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of accountants and finance officers to achieve departmental goals.
- Promote a culture of performance excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Support cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, and healthcare management teams.
- Systems and Process Optimization
- Leverage ERP and financial management software to improve accuracy, reporting speed, and data reliability.
- Enhance automation of key financial processes for better efficiency and transparency.
- Use analytical tools to identify emerging trends and support data-driven decision-making.
